President Emmerson Mnangagwa today announced a 20 member cabinet that has been welcomed by most from all political, social and economic circles.
The new cabinet has been described as a breath of fresh air and it seems to have reignited a sense of hope and optimism for the future as the new President embarks on his five year mandate.
“Congratulations President Mnangagwa on and to the new Cabinet, refreshingly new, competent faces, it’s encouraging to see women increasing and some powerful ministries though not yet Uhuru. My optimism for Zimbabwe has been given a shot in the arm. Fulfil this citizen’s great expectations,” wrote Jessie Majome, former Harare West MP (MDC-T).
Notable positives have been in the inclusion of new and energetic individuals like Professor Mtuli Ncube (Finance Minister) and Dr Kirsty Coventry (Youth, Sports, Arts and Recreation Minister) and the increase of the number of women representatives.
“I am particularly impressed by inclusion of Dr Obediah Moyo, Dr Kirsty Coventry and Dr Mthuli Ncube as Minister of Finance. ED is determined to deliver on economic recovery, jobs/infrastructure/international engagement. He will allow his Ministers to deliver. He now needs our support,” wrote Trevor Ncube, Alpha Media Holdings Chaiman.
A lot of new faces have made it into the new cabinet that is sure to send shivers down the spine of MDC Alliance leaders who are still adamant that they won the 30 July elections and now risk being left behind as President Mnangagwa has clearly shown that he means business in reviving the country.
“Today, as promised, I appointed a diverse, dynamic, youthful and streamlined cabinet with the skills and experience required to achieve our goals. Now it is time to get to work!” wrote President Mnangagwa on his official Twitter page.
