…as Sam Nujoma Way is opened to the pubic

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Development, Felix Mhona, yesterday officially opened the completed section of the Sam Nujoma Extension, stretching from Cork Road to Harare Drive.
This event comes as part of Government's ongoing road rehabilitation initiative across Harare, setting the stage for the SADC Summit next month.
In his remarks, Minister Mhona praised President Emmerson Mnangagwa's leadership and resilience, which he credits for guiding the country through its myriad challenges.
"President Mnangagwa’s unwavering commitment and determination have been crucial in steering the country through difficult times. Despite the imposition of sanctions, which have placed considerable strain on the nation, President Mnangagwa has remained resolute. His leadership has been a beacon of hope, demonstrating that perseverance and fortitude can prevail even in the face of adversity," said Minister Mhona.
Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Harare Metropolitan Province, Charles Tavengwa, also spoke highly of the efforts to support the President’s vision.
"This week has been hectic but rewarding as the Ministry had a series of commissioning. I applaud the Second Republic under President Mnangagwa for its remarkable works. I also commend Minister Mhona for supporting the President’s Vision 2030.Achieving this vision requires hard work," Minister Tavengwa commented.
Highlighting the role of local expertise in national development, Minister Tavengwa lauded the contributions of Zimbabwean contractors.
"Our local contractors have shown remarkable skill and dedication, affirming that Zimbabweans are fully capable of building our nation. This aligns perfectly with the national mantra, ‘Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo’ a country is built by its own people, which underscores the importance of collective effort," he added.
Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of National Housing and Social Amenities, Joy Pedzisai Makumbe, emphasized the broad impact of the projects undertaken by local contractors, including community enhancements like upgraded sewer systems and safe water access.
"The scope of the projects we are seeing is extensive, touching various sectors and fundamentally transforming our infrastructure. The benefits extend far beyond the immediate construction sites," said Makumbe.
The completion of the Sam Munjoma Nemakonde dualized road is a significant achievement in Zimbabwe’s infrastructure agenda, underlining the Government's dedication to enhancing the nation's transportation networks and improving the living standards of its people.
