Internal conflicts within the Citizens Coalition for Change-Chamisa faction (CCC-C) continue to escalate as a power struggles erupt between deputy cluster leader, Francisco Masendeke and cluster leader, Patrick Cheza in the Chirumanzu-Zibagwe constituency.

A source revealed to this publication that Masendeke, is actively seeking a candidate to challenge Patrick Cheza for the 2028 constituency representation.

"After Masendeke lost his position as cluster leader to Cheza, he is determined to find a new candidate for the 2028 elections. Masendeke believes Cheza's failure to announce his new role as deputy cluster leader was a sign of disrespect, and their inability to work together has only intensified the rift.

“Masendeke has vowed to find a candidate to replace Cheza in the 2028 plebiscite. He feels disrespected by Cheza who failed to announce Masendeke’s new position as deputy-cluster leader. Cheza is also reported to be unwilling to work with Masendeke,” added the source.

Furthermore, the source highlighted, that Cheza is negotiating with CCC-C National Organising Secretary, Amos Chibaya to demote Masendeke.

“Cheza is already negotiating with National Organising Secretary, Amos Chibaya to demote Masendeke to an ordinary party member, as the fight for power between the two continues,” said the source.

CCC Chamisa faction continues to face internal feuds as members are strategically positioning themselves awaiting the launch of a new party by Chamisa. Chamisa is pinning his hopes on SADC to overturn Zimbabwean elections held in 2023, despite a clear message from the regional bloc endorsing the elections outcome.
