Opposition leader Tendai Biti has come under fire for not fulfilling his commitment to providing adequate paint to refurbish Danhiko Primary School, a learning institution for students with disabilities.

A source close to the school shared, “Danhiko Primary had high hopes when Mr Biti pledged to support the enhancement of their facilities. Unfortunately, his contribution of five litres of paint was woefully inadequate given the extensive needs of the school and its students.”

The source added that Biti’s gesture starkly contrasted with the comprehensive support the school required, leaving the administration and community disappointed.

Adding to the frustration, a concerned parent from Danhiko Primary, who preferred to remain anonymous, expressed deep disappointment.

“This failure to follow through on his commitment reflects not only a lack of dedication but also a disregard for the needs of disabled students who rely on adequate infrastructure for their education. Biti’s actions have underscored the importance of holding officials accountable for their promises and ensuring that they prioritise the welfare of the citizens they serve,” the parent stated.

Further criticism came from political analyst Terrence Chipwanya, who pointed out a troubling pattern in Biti’s priorities.

Chipwanya highlighted the broader implications of such neglect.

“Citizens deserve officials who prioritise their needs and demonstrate an unwavering commitment to improving their livelihoods. The community’s disenchantment with Biti is a reminder of the essential accountability required from our leaders,” he added.

Efforts to get a comment from Biti to get his side of the story were futile as his mobile phones were not reachable.

However, as the story of unmet promises unfolds, the disappointment at Danhiko Primary serves as a poignant reminder of the critical need for integrity and responsibility among officials, particularly when it comes to supporting the vulnerable sectors of society.
