The recent July 30 harmonised elections won by President Emmerson Mnangagwa continues to receive thumps up from the international as well as the local communities with the losing Presidential candidate and National Constitution Assembly (NCA) leader, Professor Lovemore Madhuku, describing the electoral process as having been free and fair.
Addressing that party’s National Executive during a 2018 election post-mortem meeting at that party’s headquarters in Harare, Prof Madhuku declared the harmonised elections as having been free and fair and dismissed calls of rigging from the MDC Alliance as sour grapes.
“The recent elections in which our party contested for the first time were free and fair and the MDC Alliance are just bitter over nothing,” he said.
Prof Madhuku thanked party members for their efforts in the rum up to the elections and encouraged focus to now shift to the 2023 harmonised elections.
“We would like to extend our gratitude to all party members for their efforts in preparation for the elections. Our focus should now turn to the 2023 elections.
“We will try and mobilise resources for the 2023 elections and we also encourage members to undertake fundraising activities including selling party regalia and selling membership cards to help in acquiring resources for the party.” He added.
Prof Madhuku also advised members that the party’s manifesto will be released in two weeks’ time and that party’s intention to hold restructuring exercise at National and Provincial level as part of the preparations for the 2023 elections.
