Serious internal discord has surfaced within Nelson Chamisa’s camp in Bulawayo, threatening the dream about Chamisa’s yet to be launched political outfit.
A source who spoke to this publication said that one Wesley Moyo has stirred controversy within Chamisa’s camp by declaring himself the Bulawayo Youth Taskforce leader without any formal election or endorsement from Chamisa or other members.
According to the source, this unilateral declaration by Moyo has ignited tensions and raised questions about the internal governance and unity of Chamisa's yet-to-launch political party.
The source disclosed that Moyo began asserting his self-proclaimed position by organising youth meetings under the banner of the Blue Movement, claiming he had received approval from some unnamed leaders within the Chamisa camp.
"Moyo just started calling himself the Bulawayo Youth Task Force leader out of nowhere. He wasn't elected by anyone. Now, he is organizing meetings, saying he has been given the green light by some leaders in Chamisa's party, which hasn't even officially launched yet. It's causing a lot of confusion and disorder," the source lamented.
The source further highlighted the risk of such disorder driving potential supporters away, stating, "This kind of chaos is rampant within the Blue Movement, and if it continues, it might lead people to completely shun the party. It's a worrying trend that needs to be addressed before it spirals out of control."
Political commentator, Gift Ncube, weighed in on the situation, suggesting that the unrest within the Blue Movement could be attributed to the delay in the official launch of Chamisa's political party.
According to Ncube, this delay is creating a vacuum that fosters infighting as members jostle for positions of influence.
"The delay in launching Chamisa's party is creating fertile ground for conflicts among the members. With no clear hierarchy or formal structure in place, individuals are attempting to carve out their own spheres of influence, leading to situations like what we are seeing with Moyo. This could significantly undermine the cohesion and appeal of the Blue Movement, as supporters might grow weary of the internal strife," Ncube explained.
As the Blue Movement grapples with these early challenges, the spotlight is now on Chamisa to swiftly address the emerging fissures.
