The National Judicial Council of Vapostori (NJCV), alongside pastoral representatives in Zimbabwe, has lauded President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his Administration for their effective leadership, particularly in fostering peace in the country.
In a statement released in the first quarter of 2024, the Secretary General of the NJCV, Madzibaba Obey Mapuranga, expressed admiration for President Mnangagwa's passion for peace and reconciliation for the Gukurahundi victims, as well as healing of the Matabeleland region.
Recently, President Mnangagwa, accompanied by cabinet ministers and senior government officials, engaged with chiefs from the Matabeleland provinces at the Bulawayo State House with a view to resolving the Gukurahundi issue.
President Mnangagwa reiterated the need to guard Zimbabwe’s unity jealously and prevent external interference that incites internal conflict.
“I therefore, take this opportunity to urge everyone involved in this exercise to maintain heightened alertness for external influences that seek to derail our process and drive us back to a scenario of internal disputes and conflict.
“The unity of our nation must be guarded jealously against detractors both internal and external,” said the President.
Madzibaba Mapuranga further lauded the Government’s commitment to its continued provision of peace in Zimbabwe before, during and post the credible 2023 Harmonised General Elections.
“The continuity of peace in Zimbabwe after the successful and credible 2023 harmonized elections has demonstrated to the world that Zimbabwe is truly a peace loving nation,” said Madzibaba Mapuranga.
The cooperation between politics and religion, as evidenced by the recognition of President Mnangagwa's leadership by the National Judicial Council of Vapostori, highlights the potential for synergy between these spheres in advancing the common good. By working together these political and religious institutions can contribute to a more just, compassionate and prosperous society.
