In an address to thousands of ZANU-PF supporters at the Nkulumane Library Grounds in Pelandaba-Tshabalala constituency yesterday, Acting President Cde Kembo Mohadi launched a scathing critique against the fractured Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) and accused it of bleeding national resources through its leadership chaos, resulting in unnecessary by-elections that are straining the national fiscus.
Cde Mohadi said this while drumming up support for ZANU-PF candidate Cde Joseph Tshuma.
“Look at this party (CCC) that some of you voted for; it is in disarray; it no longer has a leader. We are now wasting resources by holding by-elections. Where has that party left you? Even its president has abandoned the party. CCC is no longer an issue; there is nothing to go to there. There is nothing left there; there is confusion in the party; there is no direction in the party," asserted Cde Mohadi.
The Acting President went on to accuse the opposition of neglecting urban areas, stating, "The opposition has run down the urban centres, and now cities are synonymous with dirt. They are failing to pick up garbage, and now people are dying because of cholera."
Cde Mohadi highlighted the dire consequences of the opposition's purported mismanagement, emphasising the need for a party with a solution-driven agenda to address national challenges.
The Acting President urged those who were previously affiliated with the opposition to return to ZANU-PF, presenting it as the only Party with the capability to navigate the country through its challenges.
He emphasised that Zimbabweans made a wise choice in the August 2023 harmonised elections when they voted for President Mnangagwa and rejected the ideologically bankrupt opposition.
Reflecting on the aftermath of the 2023 elections, Cde Mohadi expressed the pain of witnessing the Matabeleland region's electorate fall prey to what he termed the opposition's ideological bankruptcy.
He reiterated the commitment of ZANU PF to leveraging resources for the country's development agenda.
With the impending by-election in Pelandaba-Tshabalala constituency on February 3, Cde Mohadi called upon the electorate to support ZANU-PF candidate Cde Joseph Tshuma.
The Acting President assured the crowd that Tshuma's election would enable him to effectively advocate their issues.
Meanwhile, in Saturday's by-elections, Cde Tshuma will battle against Moreblessing Tembo of the CCC and Abraham Nkomo of the Democratic Opposition Party (DOP). Gift Siziba, who was recalled from the seat, was disqualified from contesting.
