Political analysts have criticized the leader of the Amalgamated Rural Teachers' Union of Zimbabwe (ARTUZ), Obert Masaraure, and Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) member, Daniel Molokele for mobilizing individuals to attend former CCC Zengeza West legislator, Job Sikhala’s court hearing scheduled for January 24, 2024.
Terrence Chapwanya, a political analyst, vehemently criticized Masaraure and Molokele, asserting that their actions appear to be a deliberate attempt to disrupt the course of justice.
"Masaraure and Molokele's move to mobilize people for Sikhala's court proceedings is intolerable. Their attempts seem to interfere with the judicial process. No one is above the law, and even those who incite violence should face a fair and just trial," Chapwanya expressed his disappointment.
Chapwanya emphasized the importance of upholding justice in any democratic society, asserting that justice for all is a fundamental principle. While acknowledging the need for a fair trial for Job Sikhala, he condemned the actions of Masaraure and Molokele, suggesting that their motives may compromise the integrity of the justice system.
"Let us respect the rule of law and the democratic process. Regardless of one's political standing, everyone deserves a fair and impartial trial, justice remains impartial, even concerning political figures," he declared.
Masaraure, on his social media account yesterday announced that Sikhala's ruling was scheduled for 11:15 hours on January 24, 2024, urging all pro-democracy campaigners to show solidarity with Sikhala on that day. Similarly, Molokele encouraged attendance at the January 24 hearing, suggesting it could mark the long-awaited freedom day for Sikhala.
