Acting Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) national youth leader, Cecilia Chimbiri, is reportedly on the verge of quitting politics.
A source close to Chimbiri has disclosed that this shocking revelation comes amidst allegations that she is a ‘sell-out'.
According to the source, Chimbiri conveyed to her father that her commitment to the CCC cause was being questioned by fellow party member, Eric Murai.
"Murai's accusations have left me feeling betrayed and isolated. I'm seriously contemplating a meeting with the president (Nelson Chamisa) to tender my resignation," Chimbiri reportedly confided.
Chimbiri's distress stems from being repeatedly referred to as 'mutengesi' (sellout), a term used by Murai.
"I have poured my heart and soul into the opposition movement, and in return, I'm met with scorn, threats, and little to no appreciation from those I expected to stand by me," she reportedly told her father.
The source said that in response, Cecilia’s father strongly advised his daughter against letting Murai's opinions influence her political career.
"You are bigger than Murai's narrow perspectives. Politics is your calling, and you shouldn't step away because of unfounded accusations," Henry reportedly told her daughter.
Further exacerbating the situation, Cecilia’s father reportedly expressed his willingness to employ unconventional methods, including black magic, to protect his daughter from political adversaries.
"No one should dare threaten my daughter's political career. I will take every necessary step, even if it means resorting to traditional ways, to ensure her safety and success," he reportedly stated.
The source also disclosed that Cecilia’s father planned to confront Chamisa directly.
"He intends to meet Chamisa and demand that he put his house in order and reign in Murai, as well as restore decency and respect within the CCC," the source said.
Meanwhile, this development signals a significant crisis within the CCC, as factional battles and personal vendettas threaten to tear the party apart.
The potential exit of a high-profile member like Chimbiri not only raises questions about the party's internal dynamics but also casts doubts over its ability to present a united front in the political arena.
