The Government has launched a comprehensive and swift response to the recent surge in cholera cases, with a series of strategic measures aimed at controlling the outbreak.

Dr. Jenfan Muswere, the Minister of Information, Publicity, and Broadcasting Services, detailed the Government's proactive approach in a post-Cabinet briefing yesterday.

 The briefing highlighted the Government's readiness to tackle the escalating health crisis effectively.

Emphasizing the critical nature of the outbreak, Minister Muswere stated, "Following a thorough briefing, we are taking decisive steps to confront the cholera surge in Harare." This urgency was underscored by the revelation that "80% of the reported 90 new cholera cases are concentrated in Kuwadzana."

To tackle the outbreak at its source, Minister Muswere announced, "In response to these findings, I can confirm that Cabinet has directed the urgent provision of clean water to affected residents."

 This initiative is a direct response to combat the root cause of the cholera outbreak, ensuring that residents have access to safe drinking water.

Dr. Muswere also indicated the Government's broader strategy, noting, "To bolster our response, we are activating the Civil Protection Act to ensure a coordinated effort in the fight against the disease."

The Government has also placed significant emphasis on continuous monitoring and communication.

Minister Muswere stated, "Cabinet has instructed the Central Government and media to conduct regular tours, keeping the nation informed."

According to the Minister, this approach ensures ongoing assessment and public awareness, allowing for dynamic and informed decision-making.

Minister Muswere assured the public of the Government's commitment to transparency and effective communication.

He emphasized, "As we implement these directives, transparency and timely communication will remain a priority to keep the public informed about the evolving situation and the measures being taken to combat the spread of cholera in Harare."
