Addressing the nation today from State House, President Emmerson Mnangagwa declared that in the just-ended elections, there were no "winners or losers" but rather "one united people of Zimbabwe."

"There are no winners or losers but one united people of Zimbabwe. Thus far, we have shamed our detractors who wished to see us divided and in turmoil. We shall forever remain a united, peace-loving, and resilient people, from Zambezi to Limpopo, Plumtree to Mutare, proudly singing one national anthem, under one national flag," President Mnangagwa stated in his speech.

The President stressed that people should jealously guard the prevailing peace adding that, which unites us is much greater than that which could divide us.

"As a country, we have demonstrated that we are a mature democracy, and we are collectively deepening and entrenching constitutionalism, the rule of law, and good governance in Zimbabwe,” President Mnangagwa continued.

He took the opportunity to express gratitude towards the people of Zimbabwe for voting him in for another term as President and extended his gratitude to all those who contested against him.

Additionally, President Mnangagwa hinted at the continuation of the Political Actors Dialogue (POLAD), describing it as a noble platform for the development of the nation.

POLAD is a political dialogue platform established to foster communication and cooperation among various political stakeholders in Zimbabwe.

The election results announced by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) yesterday showed that President Mnangagwa was re-elected with a 52.6 percent majority, defeating his closest rival, Nelson Chamisa, who secured 44 percent of the vote.

Meanwhile, political analyst, Edith Mushore said that the President's call for unity reflected an overarching theme in his tenure and sets a precedent for peace and collaboration as the country moves forward.
