Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) members are reportedly growing impatient with that party’s delay in the finalization of the candidate selection process.
A source who spoke to this publication said that CCC members were complaining that the delay in the finalization of the candidate selection process was giving an advantage to ZANU PF candidates as they were already on the ground campaigning.
“CCC members are getting frustrated by delays in the finalization of the candidate selection process. They are saying that the delay was a disadvantage to the party because ZANU PF candidates were already on the ground holding mobilization programs. Members are arguing that the delay in announcing results might escalate factional fights within the party,” said the source.
The source added that noticing the frustration from CCC members over the unending candidate selection process that party’s Director in the Organizing Department, Farai Chinobva sent a directive to that party’s interim provincial chairpersons to tell restless members to be patient and wait for the finalization of the candidate selection process.
“Chinobva sent a directive to the interim provincial chairperson to tell members that they should be patient and wait for finalization of the candidate selection process. Chinobva urged provincial chairperson that very soon; the final list of successful candidates would be released. According to Chinobva, the delay in the finalization of the candidate selection process was being caused by the need to thoroughly vet all aspiring candidates,” revealed the source.
Meanwhile, another source from who declined to be named said that the delay in the announcement of the final results of the candidate selection process was being caused by CCC leader, Nelson Chamisa who was interfering with the process in order to impose his close lieutenants in some constituencies.
