The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) is likely to lose votes in this year’s Harmonised General Elections, as disgruntled urban residents question the lack of service delivery.
Residents of Zengeza West constituency have bemoaned poor service delivery, gross incompetence and negligence done by convicted legislator, Job Sikhala.
A CCC insider revealed to this publication that the incarcerated Zengeza West legislator made promises to build a market place for vendors in Zengeza West Constituency but nothing has been done so far.
“As it stands, MPs were given the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) to develop the constituency and as for now, we have not even received a pen or textbooks for the schools in our constituency. In Zengeza West, we have perennial water shortages, poor sewer reticulation as well as potholes on our roads that have become troublesome to motorists,” said the source.
The source added that she was now tired of squabbles within that party stemming from the candidate selection process which is marred by imposition and double fielding of candidates which was shredding that party to pieces.
“CCC is being dismantled by the candidate selection process not only in Zengeza West Constituency but also in St Marys Constituency and in Cowdray Park where Thokozani Khupe and Pashor Sibanda are in a bitter fight over the candidature of the constituency,” said the source.
The same source further revealed that Chamisa was interfering with the nomination exercise by imposing his lieutenants.
“It’s not only in Zengeza West that Chamisa is interfering with the candidate nomination exercise but in other constituencies too. He has also imposed Dickson Tarusenga as a candidate in St Marys Constituency because they both come from Masvingo region,” said the source.
Meanwhile, the majority of CCC members are reportedly growing impatient due to unfulfilled promises by CCC legislators, which is likely to translate to voter apathy within that party’s supporters.
