Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) members in Manicaland and Midlands Provinces are threatening to boycott the forthcoming elections in protest against Nelson
Chamisa’s alleged imposition of candidates in some constituencies.
The source who spoke to this publication said that CCC members in Mkoba North constituency and some constituencies in Manicaland Province were fuming that the candidate selection process was undemocratic and vowed that they would not vote for that party if Chamisa continued with his imposition of candidates on them.
“Members are not happy with the on-going imposition of candidates in Manicaland and Midlands Province and have threatened not to vote for CCC if Chamisa did not stop his imposition of candidates. We are likely to see the famous bhora musango strategy being employed by CCC members. The candidate selection process was already shambolic and Chamisa should not make it worse by imposing his blue-eyed boys on us,” said the source.
The source added that, CCC members were afraid that the imposition of candidates would not only cause turmoil and confusion amongst party members but would also make that party lose dismally in this year’s elections.
“Chamisa is imposing his preferred candidates against the ones favoured by members and because of that, CCC members are saying that the party will dismally lose in the upcoming elections,” said the source.
Meanwhile, there are reports that CCC is facing challenges in having candidates to represent it in rural constituencies. It is reported that out of 18 constituencies in Mashonaland Central province, CCC only had aspiring candidates in Bindura South and Bindura North constituencies.
