Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) candidates are complaining that the opposition party’s candidate selection process results are long overdue and are being intentionally delayed by Nelson Chamisa.
A source from CCC party expressed disgruntlement over the delay in the candidate’s selection process results.
“It is almost three weeks since the nomination process and the leaders are still stalling with the release of the results. We are even suspecting foul play on the leader’s part,” said the source.
The CCC candidate selection process was held on the 4th April in different parts of the country and was marred by allegations of imposition of candidates. The process itself described by some senior CCC members as extremely chaotic and marred by violence.
The source alleged that even the process was not transparent because some of the candidates found their names missing from cell registers on the day while ballot papers were not delivered in certain areas.
The source added that the delay in the announcement of results was caused by Chamisa who wanted to impose his lieutenants in some constituencies.
“Nelson Chamisa is trying to conscript proxies into the party against the people’s favoured candidates. The process generally proved to be the death of democracy and the rise of a dictator. We saw this coming that is why most of us are not really shocked by the delay in the release of the results,” said the source.
Meanwhile, the majority of CCC supporters are taking to various social media sites demanding the immediate announcement of candidates who triumphed in the candidate selection process. Members are arguing that the delay in announcing results might escalate factional fights within that party.
