As promised, President Emmerson Mnangagwa today brought joy to thousands of Epworth residents when he launched the historic title deed and settlement regularisation programme, where he handed over Tittle Deeds to 350 households.
Speaking at the launch at Epworth High School in Harare, President Mnangagwa said he had come back to Epworth to deliver on his promise.
“I am honoured and privileged to be officiating at this historic launch of the Presidential Title deeds and Settlement Regularisation Programme, here in Epworth, Harare Metropolitan Province. This follows my announcement and promise a few months ago, that the citizenry of our beloved motherland, Zimbabwe should enjoy the full ownership of their properties as reflected by the possession of Title deeds.
“Today l have thus, returned to Epworth to deliver on that promise. The Second Republic under the ZANU PF leadership walks the talk. We are a Government that delivers. Brick by brick, stone upon stone, we are realising the development aspirations, set out in National Development Strategy towards Vision 2030,” said President Mnangagwa.
Additionally, President Mnangagwa assured the residents of Epworth on the authenticity of their title deeds as many had fallen prey to land barons.
“The days when people would lose their hard-earned savings to unscrupulous merchants and land barons who sell land without any documentation are now behind us. Through the regularisation of these settlements, it becomes a pre-requisite to produce Title Deed as proof of ownership in the sale and disposal of land.
The Title Deeds being issued today are an important empowerment tool and legal document that gives beneficiaries several rights which include ownership and security of tenure, disposal and transfer of ownership from one person to another” said President Mnangagwa.
Meanwhile, President Mnangagwa highlighted that the Tittle Deeds programme was set to roll out in other provinces.
“Following today’s historic milestone, the Presidential Tittle Deeds and Settlement Regularisation Programme is set to be rolled out to other provinces. This event demonstrates that we have the political will and technical skills to deliver while sufficient resources are available to support the exercise. No one and no place or suburb or township will be left behind. Together let us continue to build smart, sustainable, and orderly human settlements,” said President Mnangagwa.
