Government continues to decentralize health care as evidenced by its introduction of Primary Care Nurse training in all districts across the country.
Addressing thousands of people in Mhondoro Mubayira yesterday, President Emmerson Mnangagwa indicated that Government was increasing health worker training by increasing the number of training schools and intake of trainees.
"My Government is scaling up health worker training by increasing the number of training schools as well as the intake of trainees. Primary Care Nurse training has since been re-introduced. Meanwhile, I commend our Village Health workers who are in the frontline of health delivery in rural areas," said President Mnangagwa.
Furthermore, President Mnangagwa encouraged Zimplats to stay on course in the promotion of the Devolution and Decentralization Agenda championed by the Second Republic, which will guarantee world class health facilities.
"Going forward, Zimplats is encouraged to stay on course through its Local Enterprise Programme to develop more innovative programmes that guarantee world class health facilities. In doing so, interventions in the health system must incorporate people’s needs and priorities, while complementing the thrust of Devolution and Decentralisation Agenda, which we are championing as the Second Republic," said President Mnangagwa.
He further urged stakeholders in the health and pharmaceutical sector to develop supply chains that enhance national development and address community needs.
"To further help accelerate the achievement of outcomes of universal health coverage, stakeholders in the health and pharmaceutical sector must also develop and adopt supply chains that are responsive to community needs and the overall national development ethos," President Mnangagwa said.
Meanwhile the Government has acquired ambulances, medical consumables, drugs and other accessories. Additionally, solar systems for power back-up have been installed in over 1000 health facilities throughout the country.
