Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader, Nelson Chamisa is under fire over the delayed release of that party’s candidate selection process, the Harare Post has learnt.
Speaking to this publication, political commentator, Tinotenda Chakoroma said that the failure by CCC and its leadership to timeously avail results demonstrated their hypocrisy and double standards as a party.
“Chamisa initiated a candidate selection process nearly three weeks ago and up to date they have not availed any results. CCC has always accused ZEC of failing to release election results timeously, yet it has failed to avail its selection results since 05 April 2023, and there is no hope that it will announce them anytime soon. It seems CCC is forgetting that charity begins at home and that you always have to practise what you preach.
“Nelson Chamisa’s scheme to smuggle his allies and relatives into positions of power under the guise of a candidate selection exercise has come back to haunt him as his party has failed to release the outcome three weeks after the selection process. Some candidates are even withdrawing before the results have been announced. The longer CCC takes to announce its candidates, the more the nominees are losing confidence in the process,” added Chakoroma.
Meanwhile, another political commentator, Terrence Chipwanya, said that the disorder surrounding the selection process was yet another example of Chamisa’s inept and failed leadership.
“The disorder surrounding the selection process is yet another example of Chamisa’s inept and failed leadership. This is why some of their foreign handlers have been angling for Tendai Biti to take over that party’s presidency,” said Chipwanya.
