People in Mt Darwin have pledged to vote for the Zanu PF leader, President Emmerson Mnangagwa in the forthcoming harmonised general elections scheduled for either July or August this year.

In an interview with this publication, ZANU PF Mt Darwin District Coordinating Committee (DCC) Chairperson, Cde Ranganai Chiminyu said that it was given that the Party and President Mnangagwa would win big in Mt Darwin.

“We are ready to play our part for the Party to achieve its target of five million votes. As the DCC chairperson for Mt Darwin, I want to assure the President that he will win big in this District. The only Party we know is ZANU PF and we will overwhelmingly vote for it,” said Cde Chiminyu.

Cde Chiminyu said the people of Mt Darwin still bear the scars of the liberation struggle and they are ready to defend their mother land by not allowing western political puppets to get hold of State power.

Chiminyu added that a number of opposition members in Mt Darwin have approached the Party’s local leadership seeking for admission to the Party.

“Opposition members are approaching us asking for their admission to the Party. They have seen that there is nothing being offered by their parties hence their request to join ZANU PF. Just like what the President said, we are prepared to receive anyone who wants to join the Party without subjecting them to interviews,” said Chiminyu.

According to Chiminyu, candidates who triumphed in the just ended primary elections were already on the ground galvanising support for the Party. He added that the Party leadership in that District would leave no stone unturned to ensure a resounding victory for the Party.

Meanwhile, Chimunyu said that the huge crowd that turned up for the Independence Day celebrations at Mt Darwin High School was testimony that the people of that area were in love with their Government and its leadership.
