President Mnangagwa has called upon the Church to play its part towards the eradication of societal vices such as drug abuse and bullying.
Speaking today at the Methodist Church in Zimbabwe (MCZ) Easter service at Jonasi Primary School in Seke, the President urged the youths to shun harmful substances and uphold right morals.
“Equally, the Church must play its part towards the eradication of vices such as drugs and substance abuse, crime, bullying, as well as other anti-social behaviour. In this regard, I commend the youths who are heeding calls by my Government, parents and guardians to shun the use of drugs and harmful substances. Let us all continue on this path and nurture the right morals among our children,” said the President.
Coming to the country’s economy, the President said that it was the collective duty of every Zimbabwean to modernise, industrialise and grow the country’s economy across all provinces and districts.
“As the people of Zimbabwe, the onus is on us to rebuild our cities and plough our land, produce the food we eat, manufacture the goods we use, the clothes we wear and all technologies we use in our communities and nation as a whole. God gave us our land and we must prosper here, where He placed us, in His sovereign wisdom,” said the President.
According to President Mnangagwa, the country is in an irreversible economic growth trajectory.
The President applauded the Church for its continued prayers which have seen accelerated successes in programmes and projects implemented by the Second Republic.
As the country edges closer to this year’s Harmonised General Elections, the President called upon all Zimbabweans to remain united as one people, under one national anthem and one flag. He said that the gospel of peace, unity and non-violence must continue to be preached across our societies.
Meanwhile, five circuits of the MCZ namely Chitungwiza West, Dzivarasekwa, Harava, Trinity and Seke are holding their annual Easter conference at Jonasi Primary School. The conference is running under the theme, ‘The Lord of Revival and Restoration’ which is in sync with the Government’s quest for Zimbabwe to become a prosperous and empowered upper middle-income economy by 2030.
