Busha concedes defeat to Mnangagwa

FreeZim Congress leader and 2018 presidential candidate, Joseph Makamba-Busha, has confirmed the results of the just ended elections as released by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC), endorsing President elect, Emmerson Mnangagwa, as the victor.

Addressing journalists in Harare last week, Busha congratulated President elect, Mnangagwa, on his victory and warned the public from falling prey to those placing personal egos before national interests.

“What I would like to say at this moment is that Zimbabweans should now move on from the election as we have a clear winner in President Mnangagwa.”

“I wish him all the best in the next five years and hope he brings development to this country that had been held at ransom by former president Robert Mugabe and his family,” said Busha.

Busha attributed his loss to lack of financial aid which resulted in him failing to adequately campaign nationwide and to field election agents at every polling station.

“The election was held in a free environment and people managed to vote for candidates of their choice. However, it was not fair in that some of us did not get financial aid from treasury as did Zanu PF and MDC Alliance,” bemoaned Busha.

Commenting on the violence which erupted the day after the election, Busha blamed the MDC Alliance which threatened to destabilise the country if they lost and eventually carried out on their threat when it became obvious that they had, again, lost to Zanu PF.

He went on to express his heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the senseless spat of violence which rocked the nation on 1 August.

“Before the election MDC Alliance leaders promised not to accept any result which did not favour them and indeed when it began to show that they had failed to garner the required votes they incited violence, meant to tarnish the image and name of our great country in the presence of foreign observers and journalist.”

“This was unfortunate and should not have been allowed to take place as it led to the unnecessary loss of six innocent lives, all in the name of politics,” said Busha.

Busha joined the long list of people confirming the election results including other presidential candidates such as, NCA leader Lovemore Madhuku, PRC leader Joice Mujuru and MDC-T leader, Thokozani Khupe.
