The late Morgan Tsvangirai’s son, Vincent has accused Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader, Nelson Chamisa of being a habitual liar whose deceitful character caused chaos within the opposition movement.
A source who spoke to this publication said that Vincent was bitter with Chamisa whom he accused of manipulating his father at his deathbed in order to assume the leadership reigns of MDC-T party.
According to the source, Tsvangirai’s son was bitter with Chamisa for taking advantage of his father’s critical condition to lie to Zimbabweans that Tsvangirai had anointed him to be the next leader of MDC-T.
“Vincent is bitter with Chamisa whom he accuses of manipulating his father at his deathbed in South Africa. Vincent said Tsvangirai never anointed Chamisa to take over the leadership of MDC-T as he wanted Thokozani Khupe to be the leader. Tsvangirai’s son said that Chamisa used violence to grab power unconstitutionally at the funeral of his father,” said the source.
The source added that Vincent told his inner circle that Chamisa illegally used party funds to buy his way to power at Tsvangirai’s funeral and this compromised the MDC-T’s democratic principles as the opposition movement.
According to the source, Vincent accused Chamisa of destroying the opposition movement and argued that no party will stand a chance to defeat ZANU PF in any election.
"Vincent accused Chamisa of destroying the opposition movement such that no party will ever stand a chance to challenge ZANU PF in the ballot. Vincent is of the view that Chamisa should not claim to be a man of God because he has a deceitful character not expected from a man of God,” said the source.
Meanwhile, there has been some rumour that Vincent has dumped opposition politics and joined the ruling ZANU PF party.
Efforts to confirm if Vincent has indeed joined ZANU PF were futile as the Party’s Director of Information and Publicity; Tafadzwa Mugwadi’s mobile phones were not reachable.
