Pastors under the banner of Pastors for Economic Development (Pastors4ED) group have vowed to continue praying for the nation ahead of the 2023 elections.
One of the Pastors4ED coordinators in Mt Darwin, Pastor Willard Garanewako said that it was the duty of the Christian community to pray for the nation and leaders as taught by the Bible on Romans Chapter 13.
“The Bible is very clear that you can’t separate the church and politics. The Bible says on Romans Chapter 13 that we should pray for our leaders and what we are simply doing is interpreting the scriptures. We are in the election season and we need to pray for our nation so that we have peaceful elections. If you can’t pray for your nation, you are cursed. We want to rebuke violence and corruption,” said Pastor Garanewako.
Pastor Garanewako added that as Pastors4ED they would continue recruiting more members to ensure that the church and Government work in harmony. He further said that pastors wanted to foster the spirit of patriotism and God fearing in the country.
Pastor Garanewako further likened President Mnangagwa to the Biblical Moses.
“We liken President Mnangagwa to Moses because he has taken people from a certain point to another level. We are coming out of a lot of challenges and the President is leading us to prosperity,” said Pastor Garanewako.
Meanwhile, Pastors4ED Mt Darwin chapter was launched last Wednesday with several pastors pledging their support for President Mnangagwa. The launch was attended by several people including Mt Darwin Proportional legislator, Elizabeth Shongedza, ZANU PF Mt Darwin District Coordinating Committee (DCC) chairperson, Cde Ranganai Cletus Chiminyu, Chief Kandeya, among other guests.
