ZANU PF party has implored youths to exercise discipline, uphold high values of the nation and to be vigilant in defense of the revolutionary party as the nation draws closer to this year`s harmonized elections.

Speaking at the ZANU PF Youth League induction workshop held in Harare yesterday, Secretary for Youth Affairs and Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports, Arts and Recreation, Tinoda Machakaire urged the youths to be patriotic and to maintain discipline all the time.

“The Youth League as the vanguard of the Party is expected to uphold the high values of this new era. Patriotism and hard honest work are and shall remain the key to our Party and country`s success.

“In this regard, let us all take this workshop as a critical learning process to ensure that resultantly we are able to stir the Youth League in line with the Party`s ethos,” said Machakaire.

Machakaire enunciated that indiscipline which includes dropping of the name of the First Family would never be tolerated in Zimbabwe.

“Indiscipline in the form of name dropping of the President and First Family taking advantage of our proximity to the President and First Family should stop forthwith.

“We cannot be leaders who abuse the name of our principal in so doing bringing the name of the Party into disrepute. ZANU PF is a peace loving Party and as such carrying out violent behaviors using the name of the Party for self-aggrandizement is a non-forgivable offence” said Machakaire.

Meanwhile, Machakaire encouraged the youths to use social media responsibly and avoid using social media platforms to spread anti-government messages.

“Social media abuse is retrogressive to national development. There is need to encourage our members to use social media responsibly propagating the successes of the Second Republic led by President Emmerson Mnangagwa. As youth leaders we must emulate our senior Party leadership in preaching tolerance, peace and unity,” said Machakaire.

Meanwhile, President Mnangagwa and ZANU PF leaders always encourage party cadres to exercise discipline and to shun violence.
