Popular and celebrated music producer, Arnold Kamudyariwa, professionally known as DJ Fantan has accused Zimdancehall chanter, Winky D for recruiting and duping young musicians to participate into a political  musical project.

DJ Fantan, who describes himself as an elder in the music industry said that some artists who collaborated with Winky D were now losing endorsement deals and were now regretting having worked with Winky D.

DJ Fantan added that Winky D should have informed other artists that he was being funded to sing opposition politics so that the collaborating artists would make informed decisions before participating in the politically charged album.

“But sa elder mu industry when you do certain projects you must enlighten the youths you engage zvizere kuti project riri funded and tave kuimba zvematongerwo enyika so that anopinda achida nemoyo wake munyaya dzacho.

Ini ndiri kutaura se munhu aka groomer and aka mentor most of the youths vari pa project iroro. Zvirikundirwadza to see them crying behind the scenes kuti takakandwa pasi pe bhazi nemukuru (Winky D) wedu kumagitare. Right now mukuru vaya vari ku Dubai ku holiday ne family yavo zvavo zvakaita. Isusu now tava pamahwani because some companies no longer want to associate with us because they don’t want their brands associated ne politics of any nature,” said DJ Fantan.

Award winning Hip Hop artist, Holy Ten has since issued a statement saying that he regrets having worked with Winky D as he was not told that the album was political in nature.

Meanwhile, Winky D’s latest Eureka Eureka album has received mixed reactions from fans with the majority of people accusing the artist of delving too much into political issues.

ZANU PF Director for Information and Publicity, Tafadzwa Mugwadi sensationally claimed that Winky D signed a contract with the US Embassy to glorify anti-people views in his latest album.

“Artists are no fools. You can never abuse them to resurrect collapsed irrelevant opposition agendas. Holy Ten has clarified that. They were made to drop their lyrics before Winky D brought his own twisted version having signed a contract with US Embassy, which I am in possession. I will not attack Winky D for how he expresses himself. His views are not society’s views. I only feel pity when he glorifies anti-people views to further lame politics. Lesson is former Chimurenga guru Mukanya (Thomas Mapfumo) who is now a pale shadow of his former-self. He was shown a middle finger,” said Mugwadi.
