Former Cabinet Minister and political analyst, Professor Jonathan Moyo has dismissed the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader, Nelson Chamisa’s 2023 presidential ambitions claiming that he doesn’t have the political muscle to outwit the ruling ZANU PF party.
Writing on his Twitter handle yesterday, Prof Moyo likened Chamisa to Mavambo/Kusile/Dawn party leader, Simba Makoni who performed dismally as a presidential candidate in 2008 as he lacked party structures to back him.
“Simba Makoni’s 2008 failed idea that a ‘popular someone’ without structures can run for the presidency and win, with parliamentary local government candidates chosen by communities and linked to that someone; is one of the dumbest ideas that lingers on in Zim politics!
“While @nelsonchamisa imagines he can adopt and adapt Makoni’s 2008 structure less strategy and use it without the tag of “independent presidential candidate”; a Triple C run by a trio, without structures, with community (independent) parliament and local government candidates, is like Makoni 2008,” said Prof Moyo.
Prof Moyo added that CCC had intolerant members who always spewed vulgar to anyone who disagreed with them.
According to Prof Moyo, the CCC members are not ready for a civil and academic debate as they are quick to resort to the use of vulgar when responding to certain issues.
Professor Moyo reiterated that CCC was a structure-less party and likened its leader, Chamisa, to a paper tiger that has no capacity to grab state power.
Meanwhile, there are reports that a number of CCC members are not happy with how that party’s congress was being organised. CCC is expected to hold its inaugural elective congress early next year; however, the planning process is shrouded in secrecy with only Chamisa’s lieutenants reportedly being aware of the exact dates and venue of the anticipated congress.
