Chitungwiza Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) councillor, Gift Tsverere has been arraigned before the courts for threatening to kill his wife.
A source who spoke to this publication said Tsverere, who is also a former Chitungwiza Mayor, was sued by his wife, Tsitsi Ndawana after he had threatened to strangle her to death and destroy her property.
“Tsverere was dragged to Harare Civil Court by his wife after he had threatened to strangle her to death. Tsverere was angered that his wife had confronted him for cheating on her with multiple woman. The wife told the court that her husband was a serial bed hopper who had no respect for their marriage vows,” said the source.
According to the source, Tsverere’s wife told Harare Civil Court magistrate, Sharon Mashavire that her husband was a drunkard, violent, promiscuous and abusive.
The source added that Ndawana told the court that Tsverere always told her that he was untouchable because he was politically connected. The woman further informed magistrate Mashavire that on many occasions, she had to run away from home after the CCC councillor had threatened to kill her.
According to the source, Tsverere was in the habit of beating her six months pregnant wife and at one time he damaged Tsitsi’s new vehicle and phone.
The source further said that Tsverere’s wife accused her husband of always proposing love to their maids and having unprotected sexual intercourse with prostitutes at Chikwanha Shopping Centre in Chitungwiza.
The same source claimed that Tsverere’s wife was now tired of her husband’s promiscuous and violent behaviour and she approached the courts seeking a protection order against her husband.
“Tsverere’s wife has approached the court seeking protection against her husband. She has already vacated their matrimonial home in Chitungwiza and is now lodging in Westlea. However, she doesn’t want Tsverere to visit the place in fear of being victimised again,” said the source.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Mashavire ordered Tsverere to maintain peace and stay away from visiting his wife in Westlea.
