Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) interim co-deputy president, Tendai Biti is at loggerheads with one of his farm workers, Trymore Majira whom he wants to evict from his farm house.
A source who spoke to this publication said that Biti terminated Majira’s contract as a farm worker and ordered him to vacate the farm house he was staying in. However, Majira is refusing to vacate the place arguing that he can only do so after Biti has paid him his dues.
“Biti is at loggerheads with his farm worker, Majira. Biti terminated Majira’s contract and ordered him to vacate the house he was staying at the farm to pave way for new employees. However, Majira is refusing to go arguing that he can only move out after Biti has paid him his dues,” said the source.
The source added that Biti owes Majira nearly US$800 and has not made attempts to pay the outstanding salary arrears. Instead, Biti has been threatening to forcefully evict Majira if he fails to vacate the house by end of this month.
The same source said that Majira was not refusing to vacate the house but he wants Biti to give him his money so that he can hire a lorry to ferry his property to his next place of residents.
According to the source, it was not only Majira who is at loggerheads with Biti as other farm workers are owed different amounts by the CCC deputy president.
“It’s not only Majira who is having problems with Biti. Other farm workers are owed different amounts by Biti. Biti is in the habit of not paying his farm workers and if he is asked, he will immediately terminate the contract and threaten the workers,” said the source.
Efforts to get a comment from Biti were futile as he didn’t respond to message send on his mobile phone.
