Dissension within the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), has escalated with that party’s National Women’s Assembly (NWA) members joining the chorus of other members who are castigating Nelson Chamisa’s leadership style.
A source who spoke to this publication said that NWA members recently held a caucus meeting in Harare where the majority of attendees complained that they had been relegated to the peripheries of that party’s leadership with Chamisa preferring to work with Fadzayi Mahere and Gift ‘Ostallos’ Siziba.
“NWA members led by their chairlady, Mucharairwa Mugidho, interim co-deputy president, Lynnette Karenyi Kore, deputy treasurer Judith Tobaiwa and Bulawayo interim Provincial Secretary, Agnes Mlilo, held a caucus meeting in Harare last week and discussed how CCC was being administered under Chamisa’s leadership. It came out from that caucus meeting that the majority of NWA members were not happy with how Chamisa, Mahere and Siziba have personalised the party,” said the source.
The source added that other members who attended the secret caucus meeting included Bulawayo interim Provincial Organising Secretary, Concillia Mlalazi and Mashonaland West interim Provincial chairlady, Abigail Usavi.
The same source added that the general consensus during that caucus meeting was that CCC was being destroyed by the trio of Chamisa, Mahere and Siziba as they were leading that party without taking advices from other members. In that meeting, Mugidho had no kind words for Chamisa, Mahere and Siziba and labelled the trio the ‘Three Musketeers’.
The source added that Kore was disgruntled that Mahere has become Chamisa’s darling at the expense of seasoned party members who stood with Chamisa from his days in the MDC. She predicted that CCC will perform dismally in next year’s polls if Chamisa and his lieutenants continue leading without taking advices from other members.
Meanwhile, the NWA members are not the only ones to be frustrated by Chamisa’s leadership as some bigwigs like Tendai Biti, Charlton Hwende and Welshman Ncube were reportedly frustrated by Chamisa’s dictatorial tendencies.
