In a clear brazen attack on Chalton Hwende, Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader, Nelson Chamisa has threatened to expose and expel senior members of his party on allegations of leaking sensitive information to the self-exiled former Cabinet Minister, Professor Jonathan Moyo.
Prof Moyo has of late been criticising Chamisa’s leadership style while supporting a number of Hwende’s mobilisation and communication strategies.
On his part, Hwende has in the past defended Prof Moyo when under attack from CCC zealots.
According to a well-placed source who attended CCC’s recent Msasa meeting, Chamisa also labelled Prof Moyo a ZANU PF surrogate being paid to destabilise his party.
“At a recent NSC meeting in Msasa, Chamisa fumed at CCC members accusing them of working with Prof Moyo to destroy CCC from within. He claimed that he was getting intelligence briefings from his sources from JOC (Joint Command Operation) that CCC had rogue elements who were working to destabilise it. He said he had names of people who were working with Prof Moyo and threatened to expose and expel them unless they repent,” said the source.
“Chamisa had no kind words for Moyo. He said Moyo was just a barking dog who was being paid by ZANU PF to cause antagonism within CCC. Chamisa claimed that Moyo was a ZANU PF surrogate who wants to see the demise of the opposition party,” said the source.
According to the source, Chamisa claimed that Professor Moyo was being sponsored to push a narrative that CCC should have party structures and substantive leadership.
Chamisa further said that Professor Moyo was just making unnecessary noise as CCC can only have structures when he was satisfied that all rogue elements were out of that party.
The source added that Chamisa also fumed in that meeting that he had intelligence that some CCC members were feeding Prof Moyo with some inside information.
Meanwhile, Professor Moyo continued with his criticism of Chamisa and recently labelled the youthful opposition leader a liar and a pathetic propagandist.
Prof Moyo said that Chamisa should stop lying that the late former President, Robert Mugabe endorsebefore his death.
“Still for the record, Chamisa’s propaganda that Mugabe endorsed him and his CCC party for 2023 is false and hides the fact that Chamisa was part of Mugabe’s ouster in 2017,”said Moyo.
Of late, Professor Moyo has joined other voices such as that of Edmund Kudzayi and Dr Pedzisayi Ruhanya who have been critical of Chamisa’s ‘dictatorial’ leadership style.
