A TransMedia haulage truck carrying smuggled Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) campaign materials and a catchment of fire arms was busted at Chicago road block en-route to Harare recently.
According to a source that is part of the investigating team, a haulage truck owned by Douglas Pickard of South Africa, carrying a load of Soya beans destined for number 2460 Arlington Industrial Park in Hatfield, Harare, was intercepted by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) following a tip off.
The truck was found to be ferrying smuggled bags of 800 CCC branded T-shirts and 4 X Vektor Z88 9mm and 60 rounds.
“We received a tip-off that a Trans Media haulage truck had an insecure load. To us this raises eyebrows because it is one of the indicators of load tempering as you know haulage trucks have a history of smuggling goods in and out of the country.
“The driver of the haulage truck, Chamunorwa Shonhiwa alleged that he was given the bags by his friend, Yananayi Magumise Mupondori in Musina. He further alleged that he was instructed to deliver the bags to Moses Pasipanodya at Steven Business Centre, 20km before Masvingo,” said the source.
This publication is in possession of information which proves that haulage trucks have been used to smuggle and transport fire arms and opposition party regalia from neighbouring countries which include Zambia, Botswana and South Africa.
There are fears that the CCC is planning to cause a post-election violence if the results are not in their favour. The smuggling of fire-arms is suspected to be part of that preparation. The CCC militia wings, the Vanguard and Democratic Resistance Committees have also been reactivated ahead of the 2023 Zimbabwe General Elections.
These two militia groups are responsible for the previous pre and post-election violence that resulted in the bombings of ZRP Marimba, ZRP Harare Central and ZRP Mutare stations in 2007. The same groups were also used to punish Tendai Biti and Elton Mangoma in 2013 at Morgan Richard Tsvangirai House when they mentioned the urgency for leadership renewal in that party.
Following the successful ouster of former Zambian President Edgar Lungu by founder of Vanguard Africa, Jeffrey Smith and Joseph Kalimbwe, CCC has evolved into a power hungry party which is willing to usurp power using terror. CCC Member of Parliament for Zengeza West, Job Sikhala is under police custody for inciting violence in Nyatsime following the passing on of Moreblessing Ali.
