Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) thugs yesterday burnt and destroyed houses and properties belonging to ZANU PF supporters in Nyatsime, Chitungwiza.
A source who spoke to this publication said the intoxicated CCC thugs who had converged for Moreblessing Ali’s funeral ran amok and started destroying properties allegedly belonging to ZANU PF members accusing the Party of gruesomely killing Moreblessing.
“The heavily intoxicated CCC members started shouting vulgar and singing inciting songs before destroying properties belonging to ZANU PF members. They torched a house belonging to ZANU PF branch chairperson, George Murambatsvina. They also destroyed cars and other properties accusing ZANU PF members of killing Moreblessing. This was despite the fact that the prime suspect in the murder case, Pius Jamba, was not politically affiliated to the ruling party,” said the source.
The source added that the CCC thugs caused an ugly scene at Chibhanguza shopping centre in Nyatsime were they burnt a Gazebo, destroyed shops and looted some food items.
According to the source, the thugs were heavily armed with machetes, stones, catapults, knobkerries and knives threatening to attack anyone who would have stopped them from committing acts of violence.
The source said that the thugs were working under the instructions of CCC interim national deputy chairperson, Job Sikhala, who has openly incited CCC members to violently avenge the death of Ali.
“These thugs were working under the instructions and command of Sikhala. He promised the youths that they should not be afraid of being arrested as he will legally represent them in court,” said the source.
Meanwhile, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed the arrest of Sikhala, together with several CCC youths, in connection with the violence that erupted in Nyatsime. Sikhala and his company are facing charges of inciting violence, arson and destroying people’s property.
