Stop meddling in our affairs: Zimbabweans

Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) members have turned Moreblessing Ali's disappearance and subsequent discovery of her mutilated body, into a political issue by using the unfortunate turn of events to gain sympathy from their masters in London.

Jonathan Oates, a British Baron and Liberal Democratic politician, who is also a member of the House of Lords and Co-Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group of Zimbabwe, is one of the people who have responded to this common criminal case which the opposition has turned into a political murder with the view to tarnish Government’s image.

"The news of Moreblessing's murder is symptomatic of attempts to instill fear in opposition supporters which have been increasingly evident. Today I tabled questions in the UK Parliament on this issue. If (President Emmerson) Mnangagwa wants to re-engage with the world, he needs to put a stop to this.

“Has the UK Government made representations to the Zimbabwe Government regarding the abduction and murder of opposition political activist Moreblessing Ali and are there steps being taken by the Zimbabwe authorities to investigate this crime.

“What assessment has been made of the prospects for free and fair elections in Zimbabwe 2023 in light of increasing political intimidation and violence and the recent abduction and murder of opposition political activist Moreblessing Ali,” Oates posted on his official Twitter handle.

Oates’s biased assessment on the issues surrounding Ali’s death is an indication of a smear campaign against Zanu Pf ahead of the 2023 Harmonised General Elections.

In an interview with the Harare Post, political analyst Bongani Matutu implored Zimbabweans to stop reshaping common crimes into political narratives to spite Government and paint the ruling party black as this has very serious consequences on the perpetrators.

"I really wish my fellow countrymen would just stop this absurdity of treating each and every crime as a political crime. The deceased was butchered in what seems to be a crime of passion, driven by some vendetta. Moreblessing did not pose any threat to the State or a political party, so why all this nonsense that she was killed by the ruling party?  Let's stop jumping into this bandwagon of just posting content that invites unwarranted attention on our Government because the consequences are grave," warned Matutu.

This is not the first time that CCC party has apportioned blame for the death of a claimed member to ZANU PF. The death of Mbongeni Ncube from Mbizo 9, Kwekwe was blamed on ZANU PF. Ncube died during a clash among CCC members at a campaign rally in Kwekwe.
