The ruling ZANU PF Party has urged its members to vigorously mobilise for the five million votes needed by the Party to overwhelmingly win the Harmonized General Elections slated for next year.

In his opening remarks at the ZANU PF Harare Provincial training workshop yesterday, ZANU PF Secretary for Administration, Dr. Obert Mpofu said that the door was open for everyone to join the revolutionary party.

“Let people come join the Party. Don`t close the doors to those who want to join. It`s not easy to accept (former opposition members) but it`s a reality. Politics is about winning the majority,” said Dr Mpofu.

Cde Mpofu paid tribute to President Mnangagwa for creating a welcoming environment for former opposition members to join ZANU PF without being segregated.

“We are grateful to President Mnangagwa for opening up the Party and welcoming everyone. We are talking of five million voters. These are people whom we would have brought into the Party,” said Cde Mpofu.

Dr Mpofu said that the Party needed to attract new members especially the youths and women as they constituted the majority of the population.

Dr Mpofu further urged ZANU PF members to emulate President Mnangagwa’s leadership style of tolerance, respect and unity.

“I am grateful and urge you to emulate the President`s leadership of unity, listening, respect of one another and dedication to the Party. Always listen and learn from the people. Live with the people and love the people,” said Dr Mpofu.

Dr Mpofu reiterated that the Party’s constitution was a sacred document that should guide the behavior of every member.

“The constitution is a tool for unity and allegiance to the Party. As human beings, we differ but respect one another in the Party. Leadership is about Party structures and its hierarchy,” he said.

Meanwhile, Dr Mpofu urged Party members to embrace the Government’s National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1) policy document as it was the guiding campus to the attainment of Vision 2030 of having an upper middle income economy status by 2030.
