President Mnangagwa has yesterday reiterated that the young people are the future of this country and said that the ZANU PF Party has always valued, cared for and trusted young people and placed great expectations on them.

Giving his closing remarks at the 7th ZANU PF National Youth Conference at the Harare International Conference Centre today, the President said that the youths are a vital cog in the development of the nation.

“Indeed, throughout the days of the revolution to the present, the Party has always valued, cared for and trusted young people and placed great expectations on them. The Youth League must, therefore, remain steadfast in the knowledge that the Party believes that young people are the future and hope of our country. You are a vital cog in the cause of our Party and nation,” said the President.

President Mnangagwa challenged the youths to always aim high, to be practical and realistic, to work harder and put their youthful dreams and aspirations into action. He added that the Party will always support the youths to achieve great exploits.

The President told the youths that their sole task was to accelerate economic development in the country and implored them to cherish hard work.

“Your task as the youth is to accelerate the economic development, growth and prosperity of our country, anchored by innovative and contemporary heritage based strategies. As you do so, I urge you to keep enhancing your confidence in the path we have chosen as a Party and a people,” added the President.

President Mnangagwa emphasised the youths should not be used as political pawns by some leader and challenged the youths to refuse to be bought but always follow Party rules and directions.

“You must demonstrate unwavering and unflinching faith in the Party leadership.  Always follow the Party line. Refuse to be owned by individuals or cliques, for political expediency. Musabvume kuiswa muhomwe yemunhu. Kwete!.

“Always remain patriotic, loyal and disciplined members of ZANU PF. The Party is bigger than all of us. Internalise and always adhere to the Party Constitution, its ideology, ethos, rules, regulations and procedures. Be humble and teachable. Mukadaro munogara mumusangano wedu we ZANU PF, mugogara, muchingogara, muchikura mu ZANU P, said the President.

Meanwhile, the ZANU PF youths league has resolved that President Mnangagwa will be the Party’s sole presidential candidate in the coming harmonised elections slated for next year.
