ZRP implores motorists to observe traffic rules

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has urged motorists to obey road traffic regulations and desist from dicing with people’s lives.

Speaking through its official Twitter handle, the ZRP informed the public of two horrific accidents that happened at a robot controlled intersection in Nkulumane, Bulawayo, where a commuter omnibus rammed into a moving haulage truck and another one that occurred along Chiremba road involving a train and a Honda Fit, both accidents claimed eight people and two people respectively.

“The ZRP wishes to notify motorists that Chiremba Road is currently blocked at the railway level crossing near OK-Mart in Harare, following a fatal road traffic accident involving a Train and a Honda Fit vehicle.

“Two people have since died and Police are currently working with other emergency service providers to bring the situation back to normalcy. Police appeals to all motorists who use Chiremba Road to connect to Robert Mugabe Road to find alternative routes,” the ZRP notified.

Relatedly, the ZRP confirmed another fatal road traffic accident that occurred at the robot controlled intersection of Masiyephambili drive and Khami road.

ZRP tweeted, “The ZRP confirms a fatal road traffic accident which occurred at the intersection of Masiyephambili drive and Khami road today at 0500 hours where eight people died while 11 others were injured.

“A non-ZUPCO Toyota Hiace Kombi with 17 occupants went through a red robot and rammed into a moving truck before it was trapped between the horse and trailer and dragged for about 30 meters.”

Meanwhile, a report from the ZRP on the Easter and Independence holidays accidents revealed that there were 200 traffic accidents which claimed the 73 lives.
