Political analysts have commended the democratic processes that Zanu Pf is undertaking as it prepares for the 2023 harmonised elections. This follows the resounding support and nomination of President Emmerson Mnangagwa to represent the Party in the forthcoming elections.
Posting on its official Twitter page, Zanu PF announced the endorsement of President Mnangagwa.
“All the 10 Provinces through their Provincial Coordinating Committees (PCCs) have endorsed President Mnangagwa as the sole candidate of the Party for the 2023 Harmonised Elections,” read the post.
Mike Chitambo, who is a political analyst, said the nomination of President Mnangagwa to run for a second term was vital as it will ensure continuity of the developments under the vision 2030 drive.
“It’s a wise decision to nominate President Emmerson Mnangagwa for second term in office. This will ensure the economic gains that have been realised so far will continue without disturbances.
“What we are witnessing at the moment is the rise of a giant, and if President Mnangagwa is allowed to continue for a second term in office, Zimbabwe can only get better,” said Chitambo.
This publication managed to get a comment from a disgruntled senior member within the MDC Alliance led by Nelson Chamisa, who preferred anonymity for fear of reprisal.
“Democratic processes are actually practiced more in Zanu Pf than in my party, I respect a party that follows the will of the people. (President) Mnangagwa has clearly been nominated by all the Zanu Pf 10 Provinces, which is more than I can say for processes within my party,” said the opposition member.
Zanu Pf has once again come out as a united front in support of President Mnangagwa, who has managed to turnaround the fortunes of this country in the less than five years that he has been in power. Zanu Pf has agreed to support him to enable him to continue the revival and development of Zimbabwe.
