MDC-A and Amnesty International are racing to outdo each other in politicizing the unfortunate death of a Bulilima man who died on 25 July 2020, after sustaining injuries from a scuffle with a neighbourhood watch constabulary.
In a bid to please their western handlers, the two organisations blamed the State over the death of MDC-A activist, insisting that Joseph Ndlovu from Bulilima East Constituency was a victim of state-sponsored violence.
In a mud slinging attempt, the opposition went all out during the deceased’s burial and on social media painting the State black over supposedly torture by the State.
In a speech during Ndlovu’s burial, MDC-A Matabeleland South Provincial Assembly Chairman, Solani Moyo alleged that Ndlovu had been murdered by Zanu-PF supporters.
MDC-A National Treasurer, David Coltart rushed to his twitter handle with the same assertions, before Amnesty International also hijacked and politicized the issue by publicizing a list of alleged victims of so-called state-sponsored violence, where Ndlovu’s name appeared, according to their 2020 annual report titled; Zimbabwe 2020 @Amnesty International.
According to eye witnesses, the deceased is reported to have had an altercation with constabulary Floyd Moyo.
“Ndlovu was headed to a grinding mill in Gwembe village, Ward 5 in Bulilima East Constituency, with a donkey laden with maize grain. He was confronted by Floyd Moyo on 23 July 2020 who accused him of overloading the donkey in contravention of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) Act. One thing led to another and before we knew it had degenerated into a fist fight before Moyo was then taken into police custody,” he said.
A source who is a close relative to the deceased said: “When they arrived at the station, it was evident that they had exchanged blows since both of them were in pretty bad shape. Ndlovu’s condition, however, deteriorated and he was rushed to United Bulawayo Hospital (UBH) where he was later reported to have died on 25 July 2020.
“A post-mortem conducted by Dr Juana Rodri, indicated that the cause of death was sudden head trauma (subdural haematdema 2).”
Political analysts have criticized local NGOs for being hypocrites who seek to justify funds by hijacking and politicizing genuine issues for their own good, whenever they see an opportunity.
“This tendency of politicizing any such events will eventually lead to people ignoring genuine opposition concerns because they seem to have become habitual liars, from the leader himself, Nelson Chamisa,” said political analyst, Ray Mwando.
