Ncube accused of creating parallel structures

The MDC Alliance co- vice leader, Welshman Ncube has been accused of creating parallel structures as he seeks to consolidate his support base in Matabeleland region.

An impeccable source within that party confided in this publication that Ncube was positioning himself to be the political godfather of Bulawayo and the entire Matabeleland region and was busy pushing for his loyalists to occupy influential positions in that party.

“The chaos in the party, especially in Bulawayo and Matebeleland Provinces is being caused by Ncube. Ncube pretends to support (Nelson) Chamisa, but is busy creating parallel structures to counter the bonafide party structures. He is also pushing for his loyalists to occupy influential positions within the party so that he would have leverage against Chamisa at the next party’s congress,” said the source.

The source added that Ncube, together with other members who joined that party from MDC Green/Ncube, were not comfortable with donning party regalia inscribed with Chamisa’s name as they don’t recognise him as their leader.

“Ask anyone within the party, they will tell you that Ncube and all those who came from his MDC party are not comfortable wearing party regalia inscribed with Chamisa’s face. These people only joined the Alliance to buy time so that they could strategise for the revival of their waning political project. Chamisa should know that Ncube is a wolf in sheep’s clothes, hence he should be disciplined for causing chaos within the party,” added the source.

Meanwhile, another source within the MDC Alliance Bulawayo provincial structures accused the Ncube faction led by embattled provincial chairperson James Sithole of fleecing members of their hard earned cash to financially support one Melody Chimufombo, who purportedly lost her brother in Harare.

“Members are being forced to financially contribute funds to give to Chimufombo, but we all know that it’s a lie that she lost her brother. She is facing difficulties in paying her rentals and members of her faction came up with an idea of fund raising for her by lying that she had lost a brother. Surprisingly, other members who had genuinely lost their relatives were not assisted in the manner Chimufombo had been assisted,” lamented the source.

The MDC Alliance is embroiled in factional battles that are threatening the continued survival of that party ahead of 2023 plebiscite.
