MDC Alliance Bulawayo Provincial Youth Assembly Executive led by suspended deputy Mayor Tinashe Kambarami, yesterday passed a vote of no confidence in the leadership of the Provincial Chairperson, James Sithole.
Reading the charge sheet against Sithole in the meeting yesterday, Kambarami accused Sithole of hobnobbing with the Douglas Mwonzora-led MDC T and failing to stand with the MDC Alliance.
“As the youth assembly, we declare today that we no longer want to be led by James Sithole. He is acting outside party parameters and has presided over the unconstitutional removal of members from party structures. Sithole claims to be our chairperson but he is an active participant in the MDC T social media groups that are loyal to traitor, Douglas Mwonzora,” said Kambarami.
Kambarami added that as the youths, they agreed that they cannot continue to be led by someone with a chameleon character and said that Sithole’s position in the MDC Alliance was no longer available.
“We cannot be led by someone with a chameleon character. We want to be led by someone whom we know where he stands as far as supporting the party and president Chamisa is concerned.
“We are the MDC Alliance, the genuine and next Government of Zimbabwe and will brook no nonsense from the other MDC which has been formed by ZANU PF. As a province, we declared that Sithole is no longer our chairperson. He should go to his party, the MDC T,” added Kambarami.
Sithole’s grip on the Bulawayo’s chairmanship was on the line, ever since he was spared from being recalled from Parliament by the MDC T. It was whispered within the MDC Alliance circles that Sithole survived the parliamentary chop because he had close ties with the MDC T.
However, Sithole survived previous attempts to oust him as he is believed to be an ally of that party’s co vice president, Welshman Ncube who is allegedly battling it out with national chairperson Thabitha Khumalo for the control of Bulawayo and other Matebeleland regions.
