In a shocking revelation, MDC Alliance presidential candidate, Nelson Chamisa surprised the auditorium today when he announced that he was not sure who he was contesting against in Zanu PF.
He made these stunning revelations during a media address at Morgan Richard Tsvangirai building (Harvest House) in the morning.
The revelations were met with mixed reactions on social media where trolls attacked Chamisa for being unprepared for elections and hiding such development under the guise of demonstrations and press conferences to create a legitimacy crisis.
On Twitter, State of the Nation, twitted that, “We are left confused by the presser of MDC A leader @nelsonchamisa. What forces of peace? We really need to understand that…”
Sabhuku Vhurazipi responded to the tweet saying that “that was a baffling press conference. If l was @ZBCNewsonline, l would show it on a loop. It will result in voter apathy.”
With only 13 days to the harmonised elections, Chamisa’s revelations came as a shock to the auditorium. Some described it as his usual political banters. Chamisa’s remarks come after political analysts have accused him of engaging in a dry-bone campaign and his party overwhelmed in disarray.
The media address came as a follow up to the electoral demands being called for by the MDC Alliance to the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC). To note, MDC Alliance had given ZEC a 24 Hour ultimatum to respond to their demands.
However, the meeting was a follow up to the 24 hour ultimatum and Chamisa advised the audience that they had dispatched a team to seek an audience with ZEC Chair, Justice Priscilla Chigumba and should that fail, he (Chamisa) will cause the same team to seek another meeting with ZEC Commissioners.
Interestingly, Chamisa is showing signs of unpreparedness and is threatening mass action to justify his demands which ZEC has boldly categorised as “frivolous”
Responding to questions from journalists, Chamisa said that if ZEC refused to meet him, he would push for all other political parties to voice their “dislike” and “discontent” over the conduct of ZEC in the 2018 election run up.
Chamisa hinted that he would cause for elections not to happen this year and in his usual way, he said that Zanu PF was of no match to his MDC Alliance outfit. He equated Zanu PF to a “meal” in these elections.
