The ruling ZANU PF party yesterday made new appointments in its quest to rejuvenate the party ahead of the coming 2023 plebiscite.
Addressing the media after the 352nd Politburo session, ZANU PF’s national spokesperson Cde Simon Khaya Moyo said the Party’s second secretary, Cde Kembo Mohadi, was assigned to take charge of Party affairs while Cde Patrick Chinamasa was appointed acting national political commissar.
“The President has announced that the Second Secretary of the Party Cde Kembo Mohadi has been redeployed at the Party headquarters on full time basis in charge of party affairs. Cde Matemadanda who was the Party’s Political Commissar has been re-assigned as Zimbabwe’s ambassador to Mozambique, while Cde Chinamasa has been appointed as the acting National Political Commissar until the appointment of a substantive National Political Commissar,” said Cde Khaya Moyo.
Cde Moyo further said that the Mashonaland West Provincial Chairperson, Cde Ziyambi Ziyambi, has been elevated to be a Politburo member with immediate effect.
Cde Matemadanda has since congratulated Cde Chinamasa for the appointment and said he would be available for him if he needs assistance.
“I want to congratulate Cde Chinamasa for the appointment. I will be available for him if he wants help and I will be here to help the Party as well,” said Cde Matemadanda.
The National Spokesperson added that the Party’s Annual People’s Conference will be held in October this year in Mashonaland Central at dates to be advised. He said the Party’s Women and Youth structures were directed to go for elections and the processes should be completed before September this year.
Meanwhile, the Party said it has no involvement on the issue of the exhumation of the late national hero Cde Robert Mugabe. Cde Moyo said the Party and Government have absolutely nothing to do with the exhumation matter and reiterated that it’s a matter between the family of the late Cde Mugabe and the Chiefs of Zvimba.
