ANC demands unconditional removal of US sanctions on Zim

The African National Congress (ANC) was today gathered outside the USA Consulate in Sandton, South Africa, demanding for the unconditional removal of sanctions on Zimbabwe.

Scores gathered outside the USA Consulate in Sandton today, picketing for the unconditional removal of sanctions on Zimbabwe following the receipt of instructions from the ANC office of the Regional Secretary to that effect.

ANC Johannesburg Region Secretary, Dada Morero, had written, “Dear Comrades, the ANC in Gauteng will be picketing at the USA consulate in Sandton to issue a memorandum for the lifting of sanctions against the Republic of Zimbabwe.”

The ANC Regional Secretary managed to mobilise members from Gauteng Zones 6, 11, 12, 13 and 16 for the event and had written that, “We kindly request each of the above mentioned Zones to provide 25 members to attend the picket on 26 March 2021.”

Meanwhile, the ZANU PF Johannesburg District chapter joined comrades from the ANC Gauteng Province and where seen picketing at the USA Consulate in Sandton clad in their ZANU PF regalia, and calling for the unconditional removal of sanction imposed by the USA on Zimbabwe.

At the same occasion, ZANU PF Mzansi District Chairman, Cde Gift Kangausaru condemned sanctions on Zimbabwe and called for their immediate removal.

Posting on its Twitter handle, the ZANU PF Patriots thanked the ANC Gauteng Province for the initiative to denounce the imposition of sanctions on Zimbabwe and demanded for their removal.

“Thank you @ANCGauteng and ZANU PF Mzansi District Cdes who went to US Embassy in South Africa to demand the removal of the evil US sanctions on Zimbabwe,” said the ZANU PF Patriots.

In its statement on Africa Day, the ANC issued a statement that sought to celebrate and acknowledge African solidarity, unity, creativity and achievements.

“Africa Day is a platform to assess the progress Africa is making in undoing the legacy of colonialism and to reflect on the common challenges that confront the continent,” read part of the press statement.
