The extent of damage caused by the illegal sanctions has known no bounds as it has crippled the lives and livelihoods of ordinary people of Zimbabwe.
Recently, a Zimbabwean-based in the diaspora, was shocked as he tried to export two ambulances to Zimbabwe and was told they could not be sold to him because Zimbabwe was under sanctions, proving that sanctions are targeting all Zimbabweans.
“A Zimbabwean UK health worker who has a clinic in Zimbabwe wants to buy and export two second hand ambulances to service his clinic in Zimbabwe, but, the Auction House is refusing to sell him ambulances because of sanctions on Zimbabwe.
“How are these sanctions not on civilians? Sanctions deprive civilians of basic services like equipment, medicines and therefore, healthcare, hence they are a crime against humanity and we much unite to fight this crime against humanity,” read part of the letter circulating on social media platforms.
In revealed email conversations between the Joseph Nyamande, the Zimbabwean and the Auction House represented by one Gareth, who requested details of the intended destination of the purchased ambulances for delivery, it came out that sanctions are not targeted as their imposers want the world to believe.
“To keep commissioned we would need to know where you are exporting to, information on the company having the vehicle in this country and pictures of their facilities. I have asked for the dimensions so will pass these on when I have them in the next 5 minutes,” said Garreth.
Nyamande responded by saying, “I’m a nurse here in the UK I intended to buy on behalf of Mariland Med Centre in Zimbabwe. It will go from your premises straight to shipping docks, hope you are still there Garreth.”
To which Garreth responded coldly by saying, “We cannot sell vehicles to Zimbabwe sorry.”
Nyamande is not a Government employee, he is employed in the UK and has a clinic in Zimbabwe that he is trying to equip, this is clear evidence that the sanctions are not targeted at all. The sanctions are on Zimbabwe as a whole.
The call by Government, SADC and the African Union for the United States (US), the United Kingdom (UK), the European Union (EU) and their allies to remove the illegal sanctions they imposed on Zimbabwe is not a political ploy to keep ZANU PF in power, but a desire to end the Human Rights abuse caused by these sanctions on the ordinary people of Zimbabwe’s lives and livelihoods.
