President and ZANU PF’s First Secretary Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa has implored the party leadership to work tirelessly to ensure that the party will emerge victorious in the coming 2023 harmonised elections.
Addressing the 351st ordinary session of the ZANU PF Politburo today, President Mnangagwa said the party leadership should work towards improving people’s lives as outlined in the Party’s 2018 manifesto.
“The 2023 Harmonized General Elections are fast approaching lets therefore continue tightening our belts and diligently implementing out Party programmes with a great sense of urgency. Our people and Party membership must be kept informed, mobilized and motivated to be productive towards improving their plight and the achievement of the goals we set out in the 2018 People’s Manifesto,” said the President.
President Mnangagwa urged ZANU PF leadership to revamp the party structures saying that the party needs to know its actual membership before 2023.
“Structures must remain intact. We cannot approach the next election with an assumed membership base. It is fundamental that we know the figures of those who will potentially vote for us at a disaggregated Ward, Constituency and Provincial level. Nothing must be left to chance,” added the President.
The President further said that preparations for pending by-elections should be conducted within the confines of ZANU PF’s constitution.
“Preparations for by-elections must be conducted within the confines of internal democratic practices and provisions of our Party Constitution, while at the same time observing W.H.O protocols. Values that promote discipline, unity, robust and mature political competition as well as indivisibility of our Revolutionary Party must be guarded jealously,” emphasized the President.
President Mnangagwa also said that under the Second Republic, anarchy and lawlessness of any form are an alien culture and must never be allowed to take root.
