Citizens have castigated MDC-Alliance Deputy President Tendai Biti for chanting denigrating party slogans which promote violence against perceived enemies.

In a video clip which has gone viral on social media, Biti was heard at a mobilisation meeting in Harare chanting slogans, inciting violence against President Emmerson Mnangagwa and former MDC-Alliance members Lilian Timevious, Douglas Mwonzora, Thokozani Khupe among others.

“Chisa mbama chisa, chisa chamisa chisa. Mwonzora mudenga, Mnangagwa mudenga, batanidza, rovera pasi. Komichi mudenga, Mwonzora mudenga, Timevious Mudenga, Khupe mudenga, batanidza rovera pasi. (lift the enemies up and crash them down) chanted Biti.

Responding to Biti’s slogan on Twitter, political analyst Kudzai Mtisi accused him for seeding hatred at the expense of preaching unity and love.

“Grown up men and women chanting violence and hatred. How does it feel calling someone’s name and calling for their destruction? These violent chants should stop. Its just nonsense. Chant unity, development, peace, ideology and policies. Grow out of this toxic politics,” says Mtisi

He added that unlike MDC-Alliance, the ruling party Zanu-PF doesn’t preach hatred and disunity, rather it only preaches unity and love. He said under President Mnangagwa, several toxic slogans have been dropped.

Netizen Jaqueline Sande on her twitter handle responded that, “Shameful hateful chants, lifting your enemy high up and crushing them down. Why can’t they conduct their business without dissing other people.”

Biti who is Harare East Legislature was recently recalled from Parliament by PDP Secretary General, Mr Benjamin Rukanda together with William Madzimure (Kambuzuma), Settlement Chikwinya (Mbizo), Nhlahla Pulu (Nkulumane), Sichelesile Mahlangu (Pumula) and Regai Tsunga (Mutasa South). He is well known for his thuggish, violent and rabble-rousing behaviour.
