Zimbabwe Workers for Justice (ZWJ) has taken upon itself to expose MDC Alliance leader, Nelson Chamisa, for playing ‘Messiah’ when he had left many Zimbabweans wallowing in poverty after making them lose their jobs in 2015.
ZWJ Spokesperson, Alex Gakanje issued a strong worded statement yesterday, saying the electorate needed to know their candidates before the forthcoming harmonised elections.
Gakanje argued that Chamisa had participated in the dismissal of three Zuva Petroleum managers who had approached the High Court contesting the decision for them to be put on three months’ notice. He added that the case set the precedence which led to employers having advantage over employees, resulting in at least 30 000 breadwinners losing their jobs.
Part of the statement reads: “The Supreme Court case sets a crisis in the Zimbabwean worker which led to around 30 000 workers losing their jobs, losing their livelihood.”
Commenting on the proceedings that characterised the court case, Gakanje posited that “there was a young aspiring advocate who proudly took the despicable glory for this victory of injustice. The same Nelson Chamisa who today is leader of the MDC-T party that emerged out of the trade union movement, a pro-worker party.
“The same Nelson Chamisa who claims to represent the workers and the downtrodden, the poor and the suffering. Before we choose our President, people have the right to know their candidate.”
Gakanje added that his organisation was saddened by the “short memory” Zimbabweans exhibited by rallying behind Chamisa given his role in the disgraceful event in the history of the working class.
