The MDC-T has reiterated its commitment for a national dialogue by appointing a six member committee to spearhead negotiations with the ruling ZANU PF party and Government.
A source within the MDC T confided to this publication that at their National Standing Committee meeting held over the weekend, the president of MDC T, Douglass Mwonzora, told attendees that it’s high time they engage Government and ZANU PF to see how they can assist in the development of the nation.
“The president (Mwonzora) said its high time the MDC T engages with the ruling ZANU PF and the Government. Mwonzora said politics of vengeance is not good for the country and reiterated that the country needs both the opposition and the ruling party to work together for it to develop,” said the source.
The same source said to show how the MDC T is taking the planned dialogue seriously, it has appointed a six member committee led by that party’s National Chairman to spearhead dialogue with the Government and ZANU PF.
“At the just ended National Standing Committee, Mwonzora appointed a six member committee to facilitate dialogue with the Government as well as the ruling party. The committee is comprised of National Chairman Morgan Komichi, Secretary General Paurina Mpariwa, Treasurer General Tapiwa Mashakada, Deputy Treasurer Chief Ndlovu, Deputy National Chairperson Giles Mutsekwa and Masvingo Senator Tichinani Mavetera.
“The party agreed that the outcome of the intended dialogue should satisfy all participants. The dialogue should also be inclusive, genuine and unconditional,” said the source.
Meanwhile, Mwonzora has urged members of the MDC T to ignore insults and ridicule coming from the MDC Alliance camp.
A source who spoke to this publication, said at the weekend meeting, Mwonzora reiterated that those still in the MDC Alliance are sellouts as they are selling out the legacy of the founding president of the MDC, Morgan Tsvangirai.
Mwonzora also said the MDC T will pursue politics that will bring peace, stability and development to the people of Zimbabwe and he castigated the MDC Alliance for engaging in politics of violence and confrontations.
