MDC Alliance supporters who partook in today’s demonstration against the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC)’s alleged bias towards Zanu PF ahead of this month’s crunch polls, assaulted an unidentified motorist at the corner of Mbuya Nehanda Street and Nkwame Nkruma Avenue in Harare.

The unidentified male assault victim was at pains to try and find out why he had been assaulted.
“I was told there were cars that had to pass, so I reversed, and then someone came and hit me with a clenched fist on the neck, for no reason at all. Why was I beaten?” quizzed the victim.
Scores of pickers could be heard apologizing.
However a minute later, another group of picketers who had just arrived at the scene could be heard disputing the incident they had not witnessed.
“Who assaulted you, you are lying, we were told not to perpetrate violence,” argued one unidentified woman.
During negotiations with ZEC spokesperson, Justin Manyau for a meeting with ZEC chairperson, Justice Pricilla Chigumba, one of the alliance principals who is also the leader of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Tendai Biti, threatened to visit ZEC officials’ homes for unspecified reasons.
“We will come to your homes,” roared Biti.
Outside the ZEC offices, the MDC Alliance picketers could be heard singing denigrating Chigumba.
“Hure riya rekuZEC, randitadzisa kuvota mushe (the ZEC whore is disenfranchising us),” sang the demonstrators.
Hate speech and violence incitement seem to be on the increase in the MDC Alliance. Addressing a rally in Highfields yesterday, MDC Alliance senior official, Maureen Kademaunga said Zanu PF members and Supporters were cockroaches that had to be squashed.
'Hate speech' or 'hate propaganda' is on record of having played a significant part in the 1994 genocide in Rwanda.
